“Suitable for all” walk, Barnet’s Park, Sat. 13 April

A “suitable for all” ramble is scheduled for this Saturday (13 April), in Barnet’s Park.

Meet at 10.00 a.m. at St Paul’s.

Weekend away in Co. Donegal, March 2019

The St Paul’s Rambling Club weekend away took place over the weekend 22-24 March in Co. Donegal.

We all arrived at the hotel in Letterkenny on the Friday afternoon.

On Saturday, the easier group went to the NE end of the Glenveagh National Park, and walked alongside Lough Beagh to the Glenveagh Castle.

The challenging group went to the SW end of the park, with the intention of tackling Dooish in the Derryveagh Mountains. We followed alongside the river in Glenbeagh to the point where we were supposed to cross the river, and found that the river was too swollen due to the record March rainfall levels. We retraced our steps to the top of Glenbeagh, and crossed the road into the Glendowan Mountains. We battled our way through very boggy ground to ascend Moylenanav and Meenbog Hill, and then returned to Letterkenny.

On the Saturday evening we had a celebration dinner, and after group photographs on the Sunday morning we all set off home.
